On a micro level, effectiveness of a piece of writing can be improved if it uses legitimate paragraphs, refers back to key subjects words within the text and uses connective words. Legitimate paragraphs should include topic sentences. Referring back to key subject words can be achieved through the use of repetition, synonyms, pronouns and demonstratives. Connective words include conjunctions and transition signals that make the logical relations between the text clear.
