BEWARE of overusing repetition
On the other hand, repetition of the key subject word can be overused
- creating a text that does not flow well and is boring.
Compare Text A below to Text B. Text B is a copy
of the model paragraph you have already seen.

| Information is received from the environment
by a range of sensory registers. Sensory
registers reside in sensory memory. Sensory
registers are modality specific: a register exists for each
sensory modality such as vision, auditory and olfactory. Sensory
registers have the ability to transform stimuli from the environment
into physiological representations, which can be understood and retained
in the memory system. Sensory registers
therefore have a key role to play in human cognitive processing. Sensory
registers also play a role in the larger system of memory.

As you can see from this example, it is often unnecessary and
usually clumsy to repeat subject words in a single sentence, or
too many times in a paragraph. Instead we use referencing words - either
synonyms, demonstratives or
pronouns to give our writing variety, and to say
more.
