On a macro level, effectiveness of a piece of writing can be improved if it has a clear, logical structure and there is a logical flow in the ideas being presented. The main sections of the text should reflect the structure outlined in the introduction or the topic sentence of the piece of text. Logical flow is achieved across the text by having a logical progression of ideas and clear transitions between paragraphs. It is achieved by also creating a logical flow within paragraphs which is helped by using sentences that logically flow. © Copyright 2000 Comments and questions should be directed to Unilearning@uow.edu.au
